OOMASKs are reversible, with a pattern on one side, and a solid on the other. ‘Cause if we have to wear masks, we might as well have some fun with them. (But it’s not fun to share germs, so please wash it before you reverse it!)

"OOMASK fits the bill!"

-TheHealthy.com

"I have bought a variety of masks but OOMASKs stand out as a superior product: the knit fabric is soft and comfortable, the straps ensure the mask fits securely, the built-in fused filter layer makes me feel safer, and it’s reversible.  Also, I very much appreciate a company that gives back to the community - 10/10!”

FAQs

What are OOMASKs made of?

The two outer layers of the OOMASK are jersey material made of 46% cotton, 45% modal, and 9% spandex. The inner filter layer is thermal-bonded non-woven polyester.

Do OOMASKs have a filter?

Yes, OOMASKs have a built-in filter layer made of non-woven polyester which has been fused to one of the outer-jersey layers. This material is similar to the polyester used in N-95 masks. Research shows that non-woven polyester creates a tortuous path – particles adhere to the fibers without necessarily blocking the open spaces, which means that air can flow easily across the filter (Want more filter info? Check out this chapter from a textbook or this science article).

Does the filter protect against coronavirus?

The main purpose of non-medical-grade masks is to minimize the transfer of coronavirus through respiratory droplets. Studies have shown that wearers of non-medical-grade masks protect the other people around them from the wearer’s germs. This is why experts are recommending (and some cities in the US are now requiring) that we wear masks in public.

Are OOMASKs washable?

Yes! We recommend you wash your OOMASK before wearing it for the first time and then after every few uses. If you find yourself in a crowded place, wash your OOMASK when you get home. You can hand-wash and hang dry OR machine wash on a gentle setting and tumble dry.

How do you put on your OOMASK properly?

Your OOMASK is designed to fit comfortably over your nose and mouth. It has two straps: a shorter one that fits loosely around the back of your neck and a longer one that rests on the back of your head. When you put on your OOMASK, hold it so that the mask is facing forward and the two straps are behind, with the longer strap on top. Pull the entire thing over your head so the mask comes down to the front of your neck and the straps fall to the back of your neck. Then pull the top of the mask up around your nose and pull the top strap towards the top of your head, resting it wherever it’s most comfortable for you. The bottom of the mask will wrap slightly around your lower jaw and chin.

What is the best way to wear an OOMASK?

OOMASKs have two straps designed to go over the head. The lower strap should rest below the head on the neck. The upper strap should rest anywhere on your head near the crown—whatever is comfortable for you. If you want to shorten the straps, simply tie the elastic with a small slip-knot, use the toggle that came with your OOMASK, or you can even cut the strap and sew it.

When should you wear an OOMASK?

Experts currently recommend that people should wear a mask or facial covering any time they are outside the home and close to other people.. If someone in your home is sick with coronavirus, you may want to wear your mask around the house as well.

Can anyone of any age wear an OOMASK?

Almost! They are not recommended for anyone under the age of 2. The American Academy of Pediatrics has info about masks here.

What size is right for me?

OOMASKs come in two sizes.

-    S/M is designed to fit smaller faces. It measures 7¾” across and at its tallest point (nose-to-chin) it is 4½”. The OOMASK sits away from the face a little bit, so if you are using a soft measuring tape, remember that the mask will curve out slightly. Kids under the age of 12 and teens with smaller bone structure fit well into the S/M.

-    M/L is designed to fit larger faces. It measures 10” across and at its tallest point (nose-to-chin) it is 5¼”. Just like with the smaller size, this OOMASK sits away from the face a little bit, so if you are using a soft measuring tape, remember that the mask will curve out slightly. Most teens, particularly those with larger bone structure, fit well into the M/L. (Adults fit well into this size, too!)

Are OOMASKs returnable?

Given the nature of the coronavirus and the fact that the OOMASK is worn around the nose and mouth, OOMASKs are not returnable.

Where do donated OOMASKs go?

OOMASK 1:1 partners distribute to kids, tweens, and teens who have limited access to masks. Our launch partners include: eat.learn.play, Supplies Save Lives, Covenant House, and Alexandria House.
